To encourage students to save our oceans.

Keeping in mind, World Ocean day celebrated on 8th June, the theme of the assembly was chosen as “Water pollution”.
The moral of the story is that we should not pollute water and waste water.
The message was given through the story about the animals who every day come to the pond in a jungle to drink water. One night when all the animals were fast asleep, humans came to the jungle and dumped the garbage in the pond. The animals were sad and thought how will they quench their thirst. Then the water queen came and made humans realize that they should not pollute water. The queen made them realized that water is important not only for humans but for aquatic animals as well.
Also, at the end people were interviewed on the beach, how to save our Oceans and keep it clean. It was a pleasure to see the young explorers giving this informative message.

To give an insight to the teaching methodologies that are followed for Humanities.

During their humanities lesson, the Year 1 children began on a musical note with a song on the physical and human geographical. A padlet link was shared where children presented their videos on how they made their dioramas on human or physical geographical features they had visited or experienced in real life with suitable plants and animals using recycled materials. It was indeed amazing to see children speak at length of their travel to various places. This was followed with a quiz on the human and physical geographical features. They also experienced a virtual tour of a desert, mountains and a canyon.
Year 2 too, began with a song on mapping. Some children created a word search of our wonderful world which they played in class using the annotation tool in Zoom. Others created board games on maps with the aim of hunting down buried treasure through a range of clues, symbols and the map key. Many came dressed as globes or maps and talked about the countries they had on themselves. A few asked riddles based on the atlas – the continents, oceans of the world and important human and physical features. The lesson wrapped up with a ‘Beat the cartographer’ game to review the continents, oceans and countries of the world. They also had a virtual tour of London. Finally, they created a jigsaw puzzle of our wonderful world, their own continent or a messy map of the school, their local area or an invented place of their own using a variety of different materials and equipment following the Messy Map Guidance for how to make a Messy Map.
